Did you know that October is National Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog month?

I am a passionate animal lover and a strong believer in the positive impacts of pet ownership on human happiness and well-being – in fact, my own baby was a shelter rescue!

I served on the Dallas SPCA’s board for years and know firsthand the difference that you can make in an animal’s life – and the difference they can make in yours.

Research has been done for years on the benefits of pet ownership. Among the notable findings – pets can help lower blood pressure, lessen anxiety, and boost our immunity. They serve as great companions for the elderly, and they can even help us get dates!

Plus, let’s be real – they are just too stinking cute. How can you resist snuggling a little puppy when you see one?

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry member to your family, this is the month to do it. Check out the SPCA’s website for a list of adoptable pets and consider being a “fur”-ever home for a deserving canine.
